My simple homage to my PARAÍBA...
The word "NEGO" on the flag is the conjugation of the verb "to deny" in the present tense of the first person singular, referring to the non-acceptance by João Pessoa of the successor nominated by the then President of Brazil, Washington Luís. Later, on 26 July 1965, the red-black flag was made official by the state governor, Pedro Moreno Gondim, through Decree No. 3919, as the "Bandeira do Négo" (at the time still with an acute accent on the letter "e").
